      ●  Used in the synthesis of antibacterial synergistic drug trimethoprim

      ●  It is used as an important intermediate of sulfonamide synergist and antibacterial synergist TMP.

      ●  1. It is prepared by methylating and esterifying gallic acid (or tannic acid) with dimethyl sulfate, then performing hydrazine reaction with hydrazine hydrate, and then oxidizing it with red blood salt. The yield of industrialized production is above 70%.

      ●  2. Obtained from vanillin by bromination, hydrolysis and methylation.

      ●  3. Use p-nitrotoluene as raw material, undergo redox, diazotization with sodium nitrite, hydrolysis to obtain p-hydroxybenzaldehyde, and obtain it through bromination, dimethoxylation and methylation. In addition, 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde can also be prepared from trimethoxybenzonitrile and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde.
