●  Nonylphenol (NP) is a viscous light yellow liquid with a slight phenol smell. It is a mixture of three isomers with a relative density of 0.94 to 0.95. Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in petroleum ether, soluble in ethanol, acetone, benzene, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride, also soluble in aniline and heptane, insoluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution.
